Pure Dance originally launched in the early 2000s, broadcasting across the UK on Sky TV channel 890 and online via Windows Media Audio, RealPlayer, and mp3PRO (if you know, you know). Back then, we were at the cutting edge of online and satellite radio - spinning trance, house, hardcore, and club music 24/7.
The line-up? Legendary. From Stu Allan to Slipmatt, Lisa Lashes to Billy ‘Daniel’ Bunter, Agnelli & Nelson, Matt Darey, AJ Gibson, Warp Brothers, Warren Street, and Dan Wood - the names that built the Pure Dance legacy: no gimmicks, just proper dance music.
By 2005, nearly a million people were tuning in each month. But those satellite bills stacked up - and by early 2006, Pure Dance had fallen silent and disappeared from the Sky guide.
In 2024, Pure Dance returned - first with a quiet upload of old archive shows… then we accidentally relaunched a whole radio station. Older, greyer, and definitely not wiser, we rebuilt the whole thing from the ground up - and we’re only just getting started.
Now? We’re online, on smart speakers (when Alexa’s in the mood), in your car, on your phone, and soon on DAB - back to doing what we do best: huge dance tunes, non-stop.
We’ve brought back Slipmatt and Solarstone. Added heavyweights like Paul Van Dyk, Above & Beyond, R3HAB, Nicky Romero, MK, and Defected. Still spinning the classics on Pure Anthems. Still smashing through huge tunes on Non-Stop Pure Dance.
More shows are landing - Enhanced Sessions, Tritonal, Anjunadeep, and He.She.They. It’s all go. We might even let the presenters back into the studio at some point. Maybe.
Pure Dance is back. Online now. On DAB soon. Your neighbours have been warned.
